Life can get extremely hectic at times. Between running a business, keeping up with a five year old, homeschooling, and managing day-to-day family responsibilities, there isn’t a lot of “me time”. Don’t get me wrong, I love the life that my husband and I have built, however I do need to take a break every now and then to keep my sanity intact. 😜
Sunday’s are my favorite because it is the one day a week that everyone is home and work is put on hold. Things are definitely a little different this year than in the past, but we have found plenty of ways to still have fun and spend time together. 👨👩👧
Once the day is winding down, this is when I like to have a little at-home spa time. I usually put on some music or a podcast, light some candles, and prepare a bath with essential oils or Ayurvedic herbs. While the tub is filling, I tie my hair up and put a shower cap on. I like to massage an oil cleanser or cleansing balm on my face for a couple of minutes before placing a warm washcloth on top, pressing it into my skin slightly, and then gently removing the cleanser. Once my skin is clean, but still a bit damp, I apply a face mask. The type varies depending on what my skin needs at the moment, but I typically use either a charcoal clay mask or enzyme peel. While the mask is working its magic, I soak in the bath for about twenty minutes. I like to exfoliate and cleanse my body with a moisturizing body scrub during this time. 🛀
After getting out of the bath and drying off, I use a clean washcloth that I have soaked in warm water and wrung-out to gently remove the facial mask. I like to splash warm water on my face and cleanse any residual mask with a bit of a foaming cleanser too. Next, I mist my face thoroughly with a toner or hydrosol and press a few drops of facial oil into my skin before the mist dries. I always recommend applying oils to damp skin. This helps them to absorb fully, rather than sitting on top of the skin. My final step in my at-home spa is to apply a body moisturizer. I love balms and oils, as they are richer than lotions and soften the skin wonderfully after a bath. I even put a little on the ends of my hair. 🧖♀️
Now that I am feeling recharged and relaxed, it’s time for some cozy pj’s, a cup of herbal tea, and a favorite show or some reading before bed. I look forward to this weekly ritual and Monday mornings are a whole lot easier when Sunday nights end like this. 🌙
